Readjusting Expectations

I have been travelling for work most of this week.  And it has been awesome.  But I miss my family and my sewing a lot.  In my last post I talked a pretty big game about getting lots of WIPs done.  I was going to conquer all and conquer it immediately.  Yes, not so much.Continue reading “Readjusting Expectations”

WIPeeing

I am working towards completing my works in progress.  I really have the bug to get everything wrapped up and decks cleared to start some new projects. This.  This is the white whale.  I must have this quilt.  I must.  I have the ombre bundle sitting in my studio.  I have the desire. I probably haveContinue reading “WIPeeing”

Progress

I have been suffering a lack of productivity in my quilting world.  Starting around the time I got my perfect craft room, I couldn’t summon much energy to get a lot done.  I am not sure why – not inspired, not energetic, the pull of binge watching Netflix. And then on Sunday I decided toContinue reading “Progress”

Make it stop

I am trying to update this blog more regularly – share what I am working on.  Not sure why – except that I feel like it is part of my creative activities (aren’t you glad I didn’t say creative “growth” “process” or “path”?). Sharing what I have done gives me a chance to reflect onContinue reading “Make it stop”

Impact!

I am in progress of making a quilt for my stepson using the Sunny Skies pattern by Missouri Star Quilt Co. This is a really high-impact pattern.  I am using Carolyn Friedlander’s Doe line and the coordinating solids – a jelly roll of each.  The whole vibe is vintage sci fi, I think. This quiltContinue reading “Impact!”

Coloring in the Lines

When I was fabric shopping a couple months ago, I went on a bit of a binge with V & Co’s Color Theory fabric.  I bought two charm packs and a layer cake.  I had a great idea of how I was going to use them, and then that idea dissipated. I flipped through theContinue reading “Coloring in the Lines”

Slowing Down…

Last year I finished a lot of projects.  This year I am trying to take my time, make things that are done well, even if it takes me a lot of time to finish.  That is a bit antithetical to how I am wired.  I want to get stuff done – written on the listContinue reading “Slowing Down…”

Abandon!

I just can’t do it. I can’t work on blocks that take several hours each and then are totally the wrong size. Like an inch+ off.  I love the Moda Modern Blocks, but I am not good at making them. And they make me sad. Very sad.  And I am pretty sure my hobby forContinue reading “Abandon!”

Teeny Tiny!

I am participating in my second Schnitzel & Boo Mini Quilt Swap. I wish I participated in more swaps, but know my own limitations. This swap seems like it is essential. This time the participants were required to be on instagram. So I know a lot more about my partner than I did last time.Continue reading “Teeny Tiny!”

Some stars…

I made some red and white stars for a Christmas table runner that may not get done this year… so sharing some pictures of the work in progress. I am happy with my piecing accuracy on these… it is getting better.  Not perfect, but better.  Not ready to face all those on-the-bias cuts of ModaContinue reading “Some stars…”
